Takes getting used to. Vegetarians and vegans undesirable.
Very unfriendly staff !!
We recommend
The landlord seems to have problems with alcohol, snaps at the employee (wife) outrageously, cannot calculate, invoices dishes that have not been ordered. Catastrophe. Better to go hungry and drive on than stop here.
Delicious food and good-humored service
We waited in a friendly manner and asked for seats. Unfortunately the waiter sent us away with a choleric order. It's a shame that the restaurant cuts itself into its own flesh. See you never again.
Drunk Fascho, nothing vegetarian or vegan on offer.
Very nice service and great food!
Depressing place.
Unfortunately not a nice experience. I came with English speaking friends and we waited until they gave us a seat. Unfortunately we were completely ignored and when we wanted to sit down and ask for water and the menu, the host suddenly became very aggressive, insulted us and said we should leave. It's a shame if that is understood by hospitality, I won't be back.
Absolutely outrageous and unfriendly for no reason
Extremely rude treatment.
Open from 11 a.m. Thursday to Monday. At 1 p.m. everything was still closed and no notice of (changed) opening times.
Absolutely unfriendly service. When I asked about the beer offer if they had anything but Berliners, I was asked whether I was "drunk" or "stoned". When the innkeeper left without a word after ordering the drink and we added that we still wanted to order food, he just shouted "Well then order it afterwards". After that we are caught. Simply outrageous there.
The host was very rude. Incredibly brash and offensive. On principle, no vegetarian food.
Very nice landlords and delicious food. Got a totally delicious plaice.
Sitting and nibbling beautifully in nature. Very tasty and host has a sense of humor. class
We are very satisfied 😁 delicious food, very friendly and crisp service! Personally, I think it's good that the landlord says something to extremely annoying guests. Because the catering job is really exhausting and if you want to make a living from it, there is a lot involved! Both the boss and the landlord have their hearts in the right place 👏🏻☺️. Ambience inside and outside and a great place! It always pulls us there. See you soon and thank you 🙏🏻 🌺🍀💖 and hope you will stay and stay alive! Volker from Berlin and Angi from Hamburg
Oh, wee, what's that? Portions half the size of Rhein-Main, but similarly high prices. Quality of the food mediocre. The host ... well ... the sayings come from the 80s and can be very suggestive ... who likes it ... I certainly did not like it ... too bad.
Was very tasty and cozy ...
For about 15 years we visit the Hangelwirt. Without exception, the welcome and the food is always the highest praise. Self-made and self-smoked awaits the guest. Quaint furnished the economy and the possibility to sit outside as well. In addition the beautiful environment. Clearly five stars .......
Unfortunately, I can only agree with the negative reviews here. Not only is the waiter intoxicated, he’s also unfriendly and unprofessional. The first time we came was after a ceremony in the Friedwald, and we had a memorial dinner there. I wouldn’t call the service good, fast, or friendly, but we got the food we ordered. The food was ok, probably best described as average. The price seemed average for a German restaurant. We were a large table and spent around 200 euros. The second time we came, exactly one year later, they were closed without notice or reason, so we went elsewhere. The third time we came, after a memorial visit to the Friedwald forest cemetery, it was 34 degrees Celsius outside, and I had several guests with me. We sat at a table in the shade outside, and the waiter brought us menus. One of my guests, who came from the US, took a quick drink out of the water that was in her bag. The waiter came back, ripped the menus out of our hands and said that she should have read the sign which said you can’t bring your own drinks. Mind you, the sign was in German, and was amongst a group of 5 or 6 other signs. Secondly, we were preparing to order beer, wine, tea, more water and complete meals. The guest took a quick drink due to thirst and extreme heat. It’s not as if were were creating our own picnic at the table and you would think that someone would understand that an elderly guest might need to take a drink of their own water as they are waiting for service. The waiter was clearly intoxicated and in a terrible mood. I went inside to speak with the waiter and a woman came out from the kitchen and said she was the owner (I suspect she is also his wife). I explained the situation to her, that we were still waiting for service, that it was 34 degrees Celsius outside, and that my foreign guest doesn’t read German. She responded that I obviously know German and should have first taken my guests to the signs and read them all to them before sitting down at the table. I can’t recommend this place. Even on the best days, they have no concept of service.
